Kayla Thibeault and Lauren Peltier Each Earn NEWISA All-New England Honors

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., December 21, 2006 - Springfield College sophomore defender Kayla Thibeault (Lebanon, Conn.) has continued to rack up the honors this season after finishing her first year as a member of the Pride women's soccer team. This time, Thibeault has been named to the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) All-New England Second Team. Joining her is classmate Lauren Peltier (Agawam, Mass.) on the All-New England Third Team.

Thibeault, a transfer from Manhattan College and native of Lebanon, Conn., has already been named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference First Team, the D3kicks.com All-New England First Team, and the National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA)/adidas NCAA Division III All-New England Region Second Team.

Thibeault played an extremely key role for SC this season, which finished its 2006 campaign with a 14-6 overall record. The Pride made it all the way to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Tournament final, as Thibeault chipped in with three goals and one assist for seven total points of offense along the way. Two of Thibeault's three goals on the season happened to be match-winners, as the sophomore transfer anchored the SC defense which allowed just over one goal per match (1.09).

Peltier, a graduate of Agawam High School, has also been named to the NEWMAC All-Conference First Team and the D3kicks.com All-New England Second Team this season. Last year's NEWMAC Rookie of the Year, the midfielder finished the 2006 season with five goals and one assist for a total of 11 offensive points, good for third on the squad.
