Men's Lacrosse Taylor Brown Named Conference's Top Player and Rookie

MAY 5, 2003 – Springfield College freshman attackman Taylor Brown (Portsmouth, R.I.) was named the Pilgrim Lacrosse League East Division Player and Rookie of the Year, while Western New England College goaltender Pat Dabrowski (Baltimore, Md.) and Lasell College sophomore Louis Luchetti (Newton, Mass.) were voted Co-West Division Players of the Year at the post-season coaches meeting this afternoon. Springfield College head coach Keith Bugbee was honored as the league’s coach of the year, and Mass. Maritime Academy freshman Joe Bushy (Falmouth, Mass.)earned West Division Rookie of the Year honors as 22 athletes were also named all-conference.

Brown and Bugbee have led the Pride to a 11-4 record and the team’s third appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament in the past four years. The conference’s leading scorer with 73 points (46 goals, 27 assists), Brown netted four goals in SC’s 14-4 Pilgrim League Tournament Championship win over WNEC. In his 20th year at Springfield, Bugbee has guided the Pride to its third conference championship, and a second-round game in the NCAA Tournament at Middlebury College on Saturday, May 10.

Dabrowski was one of the conference’s top goaltenders, compiling a conference-best .661 save percentage and a 9.34 goals against average during the regular season for the Pilgrim runner-up Golden Bears. Luchetti was the conference leader in assists (47), while finishing second in points (63)

Bushy was one the conference’s top attackman, scoring 37 points (25 goals, 12 assists) for Pilgrim League Tournament semifinalist Mass. Maritime.
