Niemiec took first in both the high jump and the long jump, winning the high jump with a height of 6-2 and the long jump with a leap of 23-06.
Jacob Buhelt (Falmouth, Maine) won the 400 meter dash with a time of 51.94, nearly two seconds faster than the second place finisher while Jacob Simons (Naugatuck, Conn.) won the 800m with a first place time of 2:02.53. Brian Stacy (Belchertown, Mass.) won the triple jump with a distance of 41-04.50 and finished third in the long jump (21 feet). Brandon Hammerstrom (Auburn, N.H.) won the shot put with a toss of 43-01.50 and finished second in the hammer throw (126-08). PJ Andrews (Lincoln, R.I.) also won for Springfield, taking first in the hammer throw (146-06) and second in the discus (113-10). Parker Ashton-Youngs (Tolland, Conn.) easily won the javelin for Springfield with a distance of 173-04.
The Pride also had a several second place finishers on Saturday including Buhelt, who took second in the 200m in a time of 23.37. Sam Baker (Durham, Conn.) placed second in the high jump with a height of 6-2 while Joe Geurds (Albany, N.Y.) was runner up in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:41.16.
Springfield had two second place relay teams. The 4x100 relay team of Marcus Brown (Randolph, Mass.), Ken Toal (Newtown, Conn.), Buhelt and Niemiec ran a combined time of 43.50 while the 4x400 team of Simons, Benjamin Malin, Jared Ombati (Manchester, N.H.) and Tim Johansmeyer (Norton, Mass.) finished with a time of 3:42.76.
Ryan O'Connell (Middleboro, Mass.) placed second in the 1500 run with a time of 4:13.95 and Joe Taggert (Castleton, Vt.) finished second in the 110 hurdles in 16.82.
Next Saturday, Springfield will head to Coast Guard for a tri-meet with WPI.
