Women's Gymnastics Hosts Quad-Meet Sunday; Men Host MIT

SC Women host SUNY Cortland, Ithaca and MIT
Sunday, Feb. 8, 1 p.m., Blake Arena

SUNY CORTLAND (4-2) - The ECAC Division III Champion and the NCGA Division III runner-up in both 2002 and 2003, Cortland returns 10 competitors from last year’s national meet ... senior Danin Squires is a two-time national champion on balance beam. She won the title outright in 2002 and shared the title last season ... sophomore Lindsay Marranca was named the Honda Division III Gymnast of the Year last season after winning the all-around national championship ... Cortland finished second out of four teams at home last Saturday (Jan. 31) behind Brockport. The Red Dragons were led by junior Colleen Shanahan, who finished first in the floor exercise (9.65).

ITHACA COLLEGE (1-4) - Ithaca was the ECAC Division III Runner-up in 2003 ... sophomore Krystal Kaminski placed first in the vault at the ECAC Championships and became the first individual champion for the Bombers since 1999-2000 season ... the Bombers enter the competition after a loss to Ursinus (184.100-182.325) on January 31 ... senior Leslie Gelatt placed first in the floor competition and posted the third-highest mark in school history (9.75) .. .junior Nancy Patterson finished first on the balance beam (9.750), which was her first career event-winning performance.

MIT (1-8) - The Engineers placed fourth at a quad-meet at Brown behind the host Bears, Cornell and Ithaca on January 25 ... junior Merritt Tam, who earned All-America recognition for the third time in her career on the uneven bars in ‘03, set a school record in the uneven bars on at Brown, with a 9.75. MIT also set a school record with a team score on the vault with a 45.825 ... MIT opened the ‘04 campaign with a pair of meets at the University of Alaska on Jan. 9 and 10...the Engineers enjoyed the most successful season in program history in 2003, finishing with a 9-7 record.

SPRINGFIELD COLLEGE (3-5) - The Pride has wins over Division I Yale as well as Wisconsin-Oshkosh ... SC enters the competition after a third-place finish out of four teams at Cortland on January 31. The Pride scored a season-high 181.600 in the meet, and only .45 points separated the top three teams ... senior Jenny Romano-Joseph finished fourth on the beam (9.05) and the vault (9.45), while placing sixth in floor exercise (9.325) ... junior Larissa Tabin placed fourth in the floor exercise (9.45) ... freshman Kerriann Hart finished fourth in the uneven bars (9.2) for the Pride ... Woznicki (beam), Romano-Joseph (all-around) and Desrocher (beam) all garnered All-ECAC Division III honors last winter.

SC Men vs. MIT
Sunday, Feb. 8, 4:30 p.m., Blake Arena

MIT – The Engineers finished 10th at the West Point Invitational last Saturday (Jan. 31) with 142.900 total points...freshman Bradley Sutton led the Engineers on Saturday, earning a team-high 8.30 vault and 7.80 on the pommel horse ... MIT looks to avenge a loss to the Pride last winter as SC defeated the Engineers, 197.725-152.600, in the New England Championships held at Blake Arena.

SPRINGFIELD COLLEGE (2-5) – Pride senior Tim Goetz finished eighth in the all-around competition (50.45) to lead SC to a sixth-place finish at the West Point Invitational on Saturday (Jan. 31)...freshman Scott Goff finished ninth in the floor exercise (8.75) at West Point in a meet that featured five Division I programs ... SC totaled its highest team score (198.700) of the season at the meet.
