Springfield College Hosts Second Day of 2010 ECAC Div. III Women's Track & Field Championships; Williams Beats Out MIT to Capture the Team Title

Springfield, Mass. -- May 14, 2010 -- The Williams College women defeated second-place MIT and 70 other schools to capture the ECAC Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships today at Springfield College's Blake Track. Two-time defending champion Moravian, host Springfield, Tufts, and Ithaca finished third through sixth and, along with MIT, provided the principal competition for Williams. Springfield's Nikki Hay, a three-time individual winner, was named the meet's Most Outstanding Performer on the women's side.

Hay wound up winning the triple jump on Thursday. She then won the 100 and long jump today. Also today, she helped her 4x100 relay team to a second place finish in that event.

Double winners indivdually for the women included Portia Jones of MIT in the 100 high hurdes and the 400 intermediate hurdles, as well as Alyssa Pirinelli of St. Lawrence in the hammer and shot put.
