11 Women's Soccer Student-Athletes Earn NEWMAC All-Academic Recognition

Jennifer Courossi Springfield, Mass. - November 10, 2010 - The Springfield College women’s soccer program had 11 student-athletes selected to the 2010 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Academic Team. Springfield’s 11 honorees tied MIT for the most number of selections on the squad.

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale after the 2010 spring semester, achieved second-year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference consists of 10 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Springfield's selections included Jennifer Courossi, Allison Dalton, Sara Dalton, Erica Donnelly, Erin Greenstein, Mary Hogan, Katie Mantie, Kristine Parnell, Rory Pogmore, Kate Richardson, and Amber Thornton.

John Gibson John Gibson, a native of London, England, enters his 14th season as head women's soccer at Springfield College in the fall of 2013. Gibson has led the Pride to the NCAA Tournament in six of the last eight years and has established the Pride as one of the top programs in the country.
