Saturday will mark the sixth time the Springfield College football team has hosted an ECAC championship game. The Pride has won ECAC Bowl games in all five opportunities, winning in 1995, 2004, 2009, 2010 and 2012.
The Pride finished the regular season 6-3 overall, including a 3-3 mark in Liberty League play, and closed out the year on a a three-game win streak. Last year, the Pride beat Alfred University, 31-8 in the ECAC Division III Northeast Bowl Championship.
The last time the Pride played Norwich was in the 2008 season finale where the Pride took a 28-16 road victory.
Norwich finished the season 7-3 overall and 6-1 in conference play. The Cadets won their last five games, all against conference opponents.
Springfield and Norwich had five common opponents this season. The Pride went 5-0 against those teams while Norwich posted a record of 3-2. Springfield earned wins over Husson (36-0), Mount Ida (41-0), St. Lawrence (21-20), RPI (35-28) and WPI (35-21).
Norwich also beat WPI (31-14), Mount Ida (38-19) and Husson (28-23), but the Cadets fell to RPI (20-7) and St. Lawrence (14-3) this season.
After a win over WPI last week, the Pride climbed one spot in the national rankings, averaging 306.9 rushing yards per game, good for fifth in the country.
