Slattery Named To NEWBA Weekly Honor Roll

Slattery Earns NEWBA Weekly Honor South Hadley, Mass. - February 7, 2011 - Junior Kelly Slattery was recognized for her strong week of play as she was named to the weekly honor roll by the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) on Monday afternoon.

This marks the first time in her career that Slattery was recognized by the NEWBA. It is also the first time that a member of the Springfield College women's basketball team has been honored by the NEWBA since current assistant coach Corey Finch was named to the honor roll on January 20, 2009.

The Somers, Conn. product has been instrumental in Springfield's four-game winning streak. In two victories this week, Slattery averaged 19 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting 57.7% from the floor as she connected on 15-of-26 attempts.

In Springfield's 67-51 win over WPI, Slattery poured in a game-high 22 points on 10-of-16 shooting to go along with six rebounds, three blocks, and a steal. She then posted 16 points, five rebounds, an assist, and a steal in a 70-66 win over Wheaton on Saturday afternoon.

For the season, Slattery leads the team in scoring with 12.8 points per game. She is also averaging 6.0 rebounds per contest and shooting 48.7% while starting in all 21 contests.
