Late Second-Half Push Not Enough As Men's Lacrosse Falls To Bowdoin, 9-7

Kyle Gable Exeter, N.H. - March 31, 2010 - Kyle Gable found the back of the net four times, but a five-goal deficit at the half proved to be too much to overcome as the Springfield College men's lacrosse team dropped a 9-7 decision to Bowdoin at Exeter High School on Wednesday night.

The loss, Springfield's third in a row, drops the Pride's record to 2-4 through the first six games of the season. The Polar Bears improve to 3-4 this season with the win.

Gable paced the Springfield scoring with a season-best four goals. Joe Heney, Mark Eaton, and Joe Macchi each pitched in a goal in the loss.

The Pride fell behind 4-2 after the opening period and Bowdoin scored three unanswered in the second quarter to take control of the game.

Kit Smith led Bowdoin with three goals and an assist while Steve Thomas tallied two goals. Lawton Salley, Nathan Fritts, Russell Halliday and Billy Bergner also found the back of the net for the Polar Bears. Christopher Williamson stopped 12 shots in the win. The Pride's next game will be on Saturday afternoon when it opens up Pilgrim Lacrosse League play against Norwich University. Face-off is scheduled for 1:00 pm at Stagg Field.
