Women's Soccer Lands Four on NSCAA All-New England Team

Women's Soccer Lands Four on NSCAA All-New England Team Springfield, Mass. - December 12, 2011 - The Springfield College women's soccer team had four members earn National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All New England honors as Jackie Moscardelli and Katie Mantie earned first-team honors, while Erin Greenstein and Vicky DiNatale were selected to the second team.

As a team, the Springfield College women's soccer team finished the season ranked 25th in the country in the final NSCAA National Poll. For Mantie, Greenstein, and DiNatale, this marks their first NSCAA All-Region honor, while Moscardelli took home third-team honors a year ago.

Moscardelli has raked in the postseason awards this season. In addition to also earning NEWISA All-Region honors, Moscardelli was named the NEWMAC Co-Player of the Year earlier this season. Moscardelli controlled Springfield's play in the midfield all year and finished with seven goals and five assists, ranking second on the team with 19 points.

Mantie had a dominant senior season in which she tallied a team-best 14 goals en route to 32 points, marking the sixth-highest single season total in program history. More importantly, the NEWMAC All-Conference First Team selection scored eight game-winning goals, which proved to be the second-highest total in the country this year.

Greenstein finished 14-3-2 on the season to earn all-region accolades. The junior goalkeeper had an outstanding season, allowing just nine goals in 19 games while racking up 54 saves. Her goal against average of .50 ranked 19th-best in the nation.

For DiNatale, her all-region selection reflected her outstanding play on the defensive side of the ball. She helped anchor a Springfield defense that allowed just 12 goals on the season, including just two in NEWMAC regular season play.
