Slattery Earns NEWMAC All-Conference First Team Honors

Slattery Earns NEWMAC All-Conference First Team Honors Babson Park, Mass. - March 1, 2011 - Junior Kelly Slattery was named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Basketball All-Conference First Team on Tuesday afternoon.

For the first time in her career, Slattery picked up all-conference accolades after a standout second season for the Pride.

A native of Somers, Conn., Slattery was a dominant post player for Springfield during her junior campaign. This season, she ranked in the top 15 in the league in scoring (13.4), field goal percentage (48.5%), rebounding (6.1), and free throw percentage (73.4%). In league play, Slattery has averaged 14.2 points per game and recorded double figures in all but four conference games. The junior tallied 20 points six times during the year and recorded four double-doubles.

After a slow non-conference start, Slattery was a major reason why Springfield won 12 games in league play and earned the fourth seed in the NEWMAC Tournament. This season, the Pride advanced to the NEWMAC Tournament Semifinals before bowing out to eventual champion, Babson.
