Meet Head Coach Peter Ferraro

Peter Ferraro On August 10, 2007 Peter Ferraro was appointed the head men's cross country coach. A 2007 graduate of Springfield College, Ferraro returned to his alma mater to lead the cross country squad. The fall of 2011 will represent his fifth year to lead the helm.

Ferrraro's 2010 team took third at the NEWMAC Championships and placed 11th at the New England Division III Regional Championships as the tandem of Anthony Salvucci and Ryan O’Connell earned All-Region awards.

The 2009 season was Ferraro's finest at Springfield as he was named the NEWMAC Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year after he led the Pride to a second-place finish at the NEWMAC Championships. Ferraro also had the top first-year runner in the league as Zach Pietras earned Rookie of the Year honors as the top freshman finisher. At the NCAA Championships, Brian Fuller had a stellar showing as he finished 50th out of 276 runners.

During his second year at the helm of the Pride, Ferraro coached Mike Griffin to his second-straight trip to the NCAA Championships. In the national meet, Griffin crossed the finish line placing 152nd out of 278 runners.

In his first year, Ferraro helped guide Griffin to the NCAA Championships at St. Olaf Colege in Northfield, Minn. Griffin had finished eighth of 330 runners at the NCAA Regionals at Harkness Park in Waterford, Conn. Both Griffin and Jeff Bartlett were also named NEWMAC All-Academic for 2007.

A native of Springfield, Mass., Ferraro was a four-year letterwinner for the Pride. Serving as the team captain during the 2006 campaign, Ferraro was selected to the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team. Ferraro went on to graduate Cum Laude with a degree in Business Management. He previously served as the assistant track coach at Cathedral High School in Springfield.
