SC's Evans, Fox 1-2 in All-Around, But Temple Wins the New England Men's Gymnastics Invitational Championships

2010 New England Men's Gymnastics Invitational Championships Springfield. Mass. -- February 21, 2010 -- It was a great day for Springfield College individuals Ty Evans and Josh Fox who finished 1-2 in the All-Around competition, but after all was said and done, it was Temple University which captured the team competition at the New England Men's Gymnastics Invitational Championships at Springfield College's Blake Arena this afternoon. Temple's score of 334.550 bested that of second-place SC at 331.30.

Placing in third as a team was the Ellis Club at 279.150, followed by MIT's club team at 256.250, R&R Club at 239.000, and the Legends at 204.000.

In the All-Around competition, it was Evans, a sophomore from San Jose, Calif., who took first with a score of 84.550. Fox, a junior from Ellicott City, Md., was next at 82.900.

In third in the All-Around was Blake Collins of Temple (82.150), ahead of Brett Lazarus of MIT (79.200), Garret Robinson of Maine Academy (74.000), and Pat Ryther of Ellis Club (73.900).

Evans had a pretty spectacular day. Besides taking first in the All-Around, he also placed first in the high bar (14.600), first in the parallel bars (14.300), second in the vault (15,400), second in the floor exercise (14.450), and tied for sixth in the pommel horse (12.250).
