Baseball Edges MCLA, 13-12

NORTH ADAMS, Mass., April 30, 2003 - Springfield College freshman second baseman Matt Ziter went 4-for-6 with one RBI and two runs scored in his first varsity appearance as the Pride defeated the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA), 13-12, on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference game.

SC senior center fielder Dan Abrahamson (South Deerfield, Mass.) went 2-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored, and sophomore shortstop Matt Basteri (Melrose, Mass.) was 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Down 13-4 in the ninth inning, MCLA scored eight runs to nearly tie the contest. The Trailblazers were led by sophomore right fielder Bob Howland who went 2-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI from the leadoff position.
