Women's Track and Field's Kelsey Bishop Earns Open All-New England Honors

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., February 26, 2007 – Springfield College sophomore Kelsey Bishop received All-New England honors this weekend as the Pride finished 27th out of 38 teams at the Open Championships at Boston University.

Bishop, who hails from (Warwick, R.I.), finished eighth in the weight throw with a toss of 49-feet, 9 inches, enough to earn All-New England All-Division honors.

Junior Alyssa Brigham (Penacook, N.H.) finished 13th in the mile run with a time of 5:04.53. Freshman Nikki Hay (Norwalk, Conn.) placed 9th overall in the triple jump (35-11 ), and freshman Nicole Reynolds (Riverside, R.I.) set a personal best time in the 400m dash (59.43).

SC’s 4x400 relay team of Reynolds, Hay, freshman Catherine Croce (Wallkill, N.Y.), and junior Kristyn Meade (Raynham, Mass.) improved their best time by almost six seconds, from 4:09 to 4:03.02. The 4x800 relay team of Croce, freshman Chelsea Ellwood (San Diego, Calif.), freshman Allison Vander Werff (Golden’s Bridge, N.Y.), and freshman Emma Lang (Woodstock, N.Y.) qualified for the ECAC Championships with a time of 9:56.10.
