Women's Gymnastics Hosts Southern Connecticut on Saturday in 2009 Season-Opener

Kayleigh Davis Springfield, Mass. - January 9, 2009 - The Springfield College women's gymnastics team will open up the 2009 season on Saturday afternoon as it hosts Southern Connecticut State in a dual meet in Blake Arena.

The Pride, which placed fourth at the ECAC Championships and sent nine individuals to the NCGA Championships a year ago, are poised to have another stellar season under head coach Cheryl Raymond. Raymond, who is entering her 30th season at the helm of the Pride, has a handful of student athletes who have seen plenty of success during their stay on Alden Street.

Looking to lead the way for the Pride this season will be the trio of Jeanna Bradle, Brittany Davis, and Jackie Mazzola, all of whom earned Second Team All-America status at the 2008 NCGA Division III National Championships last season.

Also looking to make an impact after missing last season with an injury will be Audrey Lastra, who set the school's all-around record during her freshman season.
