Women's Cross Country Earns NCAA Division III USTFCCCA Women’s All-Academic Honors Springfield, Mass. - March 6, 2009 - The Springfield College women's cross country team was recently recognized for their achievements in the classroom as they were honored as a 2008 NCAA Division III USTFCCCA Women’s All-Academic Team.

For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, they must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Meet. The team must also have a minimum 3.10 team cumulative grade point average. Forty-percent of all Division III institutions (394) who sponsor women’s cross country received the honor.

Springfield, which had a team grade point average of 3.581, ranked first among New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) institutions who received this accolade. In total, six schools from the conference won the award as Babson, MIT, Smith, Springfield, Wellesley, and Wheaton were all honored.

The Pride also had a standout year on the cross country course as it finished third at the NEWMAC Championships.
