Westfield, Mass. - May 10, 2014 - The Springfield College women's track & field team competed at the All-New England Championships on Friday and Saturday, hosted by Westfield State University. The meet consists of teams from Division I, II, and III and was highlighted by several personal-best performances from the Pride.
Gabriella Gaudreault (Leominster, Mass.) had the Pride's top finish of the weekend, finishing 12th overall in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:15.32. Amanda Martin (Bristol, Conn.) also performed well for Springfield, taking 13th in the triple jump with a leap of 37-07.25, her best jump of the year.
Springfield's 4x400 team of Gaudreault, Dina Pitsas (Milford, N.H.), Samantha Pomroy (Lebanon, Maine) and Fatoumata Samura (Bronx, N.Y.) placed 13th overall with a combined time of 3:57.83. It was the fastest time of the year for the Pride.
The Pride competed in two other relays on Saturday, as the 4x100 relay team of Erin Womboldt (Falmouth, Mass.), Katherine Saia (Wallingford, Conn.), Darian Dailey (East Providence, R.I.) and Elizabeth Saia (Wallingford, Conn.) finished 20th overall with a combined time of 49.89, also a personal best for the team this season. Springfield's 4x800 team of Abby Clark (Holderness, N.H.), Elizabeth Beauregard (West Newbury, Mass.), Abigail Wright (Pittsfield, Mass.) and Stephanie Williams (Simsbury, Conn.) finished 15th with a time of 10:13.46.
Individually on Friday night, Clark was the lone representative for the Pride, running in the 100 meter hurdles preliminary round. The junior finished 31st overall with a time of 15.66.
