The split evened Springfield's record this year at 3-3.
In the opener, Macalester did all their damage in the bottom of the fourth when they scored all three of their runs. Steve Forbes tossed six innings on the mound, giving up the three runs on just three hits, while striking out a pair and not registering a walk. Kyle DiFranco cracked a triple to highlight Springfield's offense in the opener.
Springfield had a much better start to its second game of the day as it plated five runs in the bottom of the first inning to grab a commanding 5-2 lead. Macalester battled back to tie the game at five in the top of the third, only to have the Pride answer back and grab the lead for good with a run in the bottom of the frame.
Starter Ryan White lasted four innings, allowing five runs, three earned, off seven hits. White picked up the victory. Brian Harris later came in to throw two innings of scoreless ball, giving up just two hits and striking out a pair. Darryl Smith earned the save as he pitched the final inning, not allowing a hit and walking one.
Karl Quist recorded a pair of RBI in the win, while both Michael Micik and Louie Nucci each had multi-hit games for the Pride.
