Despite Solid Second Half, Women's Lacrosse Falls at Amherst, 12-4

AMHERST, Mass., March 30, 2006 - Springfield College junior midfielder Rachel Lampros (Boxborough, Mass.) scored a team-best three goals to go along with an assist in a non-conference contest at seventh-ranked Amherst College, but it wasn't enough as the Lord Jeffs defeated the Pride, 12-4.

Despite playing the No. 7 team in the nation (Division III) to a 4-3 score in the second stanza, it was too much to overcome, as Amherst outscored SC in the first half, 8-1.

Freshman forward Heather Dobson (Longmeadow, Mass.) added a score for the Pride, as sophomore forward Alaina Schnitzer (Greenlawn, N.Y.) assisted on Lampros' third goal of the game. SC falls to 3-3 with the loss as the Lord Jeffs improve to a perfect 3-0. On the season, Lampros lead the Pride with 13 goals and two assists for 15 total points of offense.

Amherst was led by Dana Kuper and Maddie Hoeg with three goals apiece, as Scotty Hanley added two scores. Kuper, Hoeg, and Hanley also all assisted on one other Lord Jeff goal.

Next up for SC will be a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest at Wellesley College on Saturday afternoon, April 1, in a 1:00 p.m. start.
