Men's Golf Finishes 26th At 71st Annual NEIGA Championship

BREWSTER, Mass., October 18, 2005 - Springfield College's Andrew Wright finished in a tie for 42nd-place out of 226 competing golfers at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 17, 18) in Brewster, Mass. The Pride finished 26th out of 45 teams in the Championship which featured many Division I New England squads.

The University of Rhode Island won the Championship, shooting a two-day team total of 592, just 16 strokes over par. Dartmouth College placed second at +26, with the University of Connecticut rounding out the top three with a +29 team effort.

Wright carded a 77 on the par-72 course in day one, and finished with an 80 during the second day of competition for a combined total of +13 to finish in a tie for 42nd overall. Greg Levings finished in a tie for 78th overall (+17) with a solid, 77 on day two after shooting an 84 in the opening round.

Rounding out the top five for SC was Mike Lajoie (+24), Matt McCarthy (+28) and Paul Chmura (+28).
