Evans Captures All-Around, But Air Force Wins 3-Way Gymnastics Meet

Jimmy Pezzino Springfield, Mass. --- March 13, 2011 -- Springfield College's Ty Evans captured the all-around with a score of 85.300, but it was the U.S. Air Force Academy winning as a team in a 3-way meet over both William & Mary and Springfield today at SC's Blake Arena.

Air Force scored 343.300 points, followed by William & Mary with 338.800, and Springfield College 330.000.

It was the third straight meet where Evans, a junior from San Jose, Calif., scored exactly 85.300 points to win the all-around.

Once again, Evans performed extremely well. Not only did he place first in the all-around, he also finished tied for first in the vault (15.900), second in the parallel bars (14.300), second in the floor exercise (14.700), third in the high bar (14.500), 11th in the still rings (14.000), and 16th in the pommel horse (11.900).
