Cartier Earns All-ECAC Honor and Leads the Pride to Seventh Place

Lacey Cartier - All-ECAC Bristol, R.I. – November 8, 2008 – Sophomore Lacey Cartier (York, Maine) had another successful race for the Springfield College Women’s Cross Country team, leading the Pride to a seventh place overall finish at the 2008 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Cross Country Championships held at Colt State Park.

With seven runners finishing in the top ten, defending champion Williams College easily cruised to victory with 23 points, followed by Amherst (75), Middlebury (104), Connecticut College (217), Bates (228), Colby (244), Springfield (251), Vassar (254), and TCNJ (294). Rounding out the top ten was Tufts (298).

Cartier crossed the line in a time of 24:15, finishing in 13th place, earning her second consecutive All-ECAC honor.

Overall, five Pride runners finished in the top 100, including freshman Michelle Mirti (Pompton Plains, N.J.) who placed 22nd in a time of 24:39. Grad student Kristyn Meade (Raynham, Mass.) ended in 25:25, freshman Lindsey Eby (Clifton Park, N.Y.) crossed the line at 26:04, and sophomore Mollie Berndt (Burlington, Wisc.) finished in 26:21.

Springfield next competes at the NCAA Div. III New England Regionals hosted by Williams College in Williamstown, Mass. on Saturday, November 15th.
