Men's Swimming & Diving Continues Third After Day 2 of NEWMAC's

Sean Pennington Complete Results

Cambridge, Mass. -- February 18, 2012 -- The Springfield men's swimming & diving team competed in the second day of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference championships today at MIT. And after all was said and done, SC remained in third place with one day remaining.

Team scores were as follows: MIT 829, Coast Guard 485, Springfield 240, Babson 204, Clark 193, WPI 191, and Wheaton 155.

As was the case with the women's team, MIT won six of the seven events tonight. But the Pride did have some good swims on the day.

In the 200-yard medley relay, the quartet of senior Sean Pennington, freshman Brad Mills, senior Scott Mackstutis, and sophomore Jason Scotto placed 11th with a time of 1:38.22.

In the 400-yard IM, senior Brian Sniffin led the SC charge with a time of 4:21.12, finishing 12th.

In the 100-yard fly, Mackstutis finished ninth with a time of 51.12 seconds.

In the 200 free, three Pride performers placed in the top 12. They were junior Nolan Manley in fifth at 1:42.42, junior Scott Peters in ninth at 1:43.41, and Scotto in 12th at 1:44.68.

In the 100 breaststroke, Mills placed eighth with a finish of 1:01.45.

In the 100 back, senior Josh Ernst had SC's best placing of the day -- third -- with a time of 51.49 seconds. That was an NCAA "B" cut time. Also placing 12th was freshman Kelly Dullard in 54.41.

Finally, in the 800 freestyle relay, the SC team of Ernst, Manley, Scotto, and Peters placed second with a time of 6:53.11.
