Golf Competes at Duke Nelson Invitational

Middlebury, Vt. - September 15, 2013 - The Springfield College golf team finished in 19th, at the 30th Duke Nelson Invitational, hosted by Middlebury College, this past weekend.

Springfield College graduate student Kyle DiFranco (East Longmeadow, Mass.) posted a team best 148 strokes after consecutive rounds of 74 to finish ninth individually.

As for the top finishers, Middlebury College finished first with an overall score of 596 strokes. Following Middlebury was Clarkson University (597), Williams College (599), Salem State University (602), and Hamilton College (603).

As a team, Springfield tallied a score of 649. Behind DiFranco, Adam Ziewacz (Simsbury, Conn.) shot 162 (79/83), while David Hashagen (Morris Plains, N.J.) had a strong showing with a 163 (80/83). Alec Leung (Milford, Mass.) totaled a 196 (95/81), and Michael McAllister rounded out the scoring with a 186 (95/91).

The Pride will next play in the NECC Invitational at the Wedgewood Pines Country Club.

Joe Eadie Joe Eadie enters his 20th season as the head men's golf coach at Springfield College in the fall of 2012. Eadie is the head golf professional at the Fenway Golf Range in nearby East Longmeadow, and is in the process of becoming a PGA Professional.
