Springfield, Mass. - March 28, 2012 - The Springfield College softball team recently added a new member to the squad, and she is bound to leave a lasting mark on the program. Celia, a 7-year old from nearby Wilbraham, Mass., was drafted by the Pride on February 13th after the team partnered with Team IMPACT, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping children facing life threatening illnesses by matching these courageous kids with college athletic teams close to where they live.
"This Team IMPACT program is outstanding, and every team should really try and be a part of it," described head coach Julie Perrelli. "Not only has our team truly benefited from getting to know Celia, but I know that she has enjoyed the relationship as well. Being around Celia puts everything in perspective, and we look forward to having this relationship grow, not only for this season, but for years to come."
