The Beavers won two of the three doubles matches at the number one and number two spots. At number one, senior Brian Lafayette (Burlington, Vt.) and junior Justin Albert (Newton, Mass.) defeated senior Trevor Romanzi (Bay Shore, N.Y.) and senior Tim Tunis (Sudbury, Mass.), 8-3. First-year Simeon Human (Trelex, Vaud, Switzerland) and junior Austin Conti (Murray Hill, N.J.) won at number two doubles by a score of 8-5.
In singles competition, the Beavers won five of six matches. Albert earned his second win of the day over Romanzi at the number one spot, 6-3, 7-6 (2). Conti also won his singles match at the number two spot, 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 defeating Tunis. Lafayette would defeat sophomore Zach O’Leary (Westboro, Mass.) at the number four spot, 6-4, 6-1 to finish with two wins for the day.
Rounding out the singles wins were sophomore Danny Schneider (Littleton, Mass.) and first-year Zach Ringer (Minnetonka, Minn.) who also earned wins at the number five and six singles spots respectively.
Springfield’s doubles victory came at the number three spot with O’Leary and junior Doug Nickerson (Falmouth, Maine) winning 8-5. The Prides’ singles victory went to first-year Benjamin Burnap (Westerly, R.I.), who won at the number three spot, 6-3, 7-5.
The Beavers return to the courts on Tuesday when they host Trinity College for a 3:30pm match. Springfield will next visit Connecticut College also on Tuesday at 3:30pm.
