Wrestling Opens Up First Day of Petrofes Invitational

Grantham, Pa. - December 6, 2013 - The Springfield College wrestling team opened up the Petrofes Invitational hosted by Messiah College on Friday evening and have four wrestlers who have advanced to the semifinal round.

After the first day of competition, Wilkes leads the way with 105 points, followed by host Messiah (97.5), while Mount Union (95), Ursinus (77), and Springfield (76.5) round out the top five of the nine team field.

Reigning NCAA Division III National Champion and top-seeded Devin Biscaha (Jackson, N.J.) continued his tremendous start to the season with three wins at 157 coming by a pin, major decision, and technical fall.

Also wrestling as the top-seeds in their weight classes and advancing to the semifinals are Dylan Foley (Southborough, Mass.) at 165 and Hunter Ayen (Gouverneur, N.Y.) at 197. Foley earned three hard-fought wins by decision, while Ayen, who was the d3Wrestle.com National Wrestler of the Week on November 26, pinned both his opponents to reach Saturday's semifinals.

Second-seeded Tommy Casper (Bergenfield, N.J.) also pinned his only opponent of the day to advance to the semifinals at 125.
