Wheaton Blanks Women's Tennis, 9-0

Springfield, Mass. - September 24, 2011 - The Springfield College women's tennis team lost to visiting Wheaton College, 9-0, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play on Saturday afternoon on Appleton Courts.

The Lyons improve to 5-0, 3-0 in league play, while the Pride drop to 0-4, 0-3.

Springfield hung tough in the doubles play as Erin Woodbury and Siana Green lost a close 9-7 decision at No. 2, while Vanessa Senecal and Sydney Striemer were edged 9-8 at No. 3.

Senecel also battled at No. 4 singles as she lost 6-3, 6-3.

The Pride will continue conference play on Tuesday afternoon as it plays host to Clark at 4:00 pm.
