Wrestling Finishes Second at NEWA Dual Championships

Dylan Foley Bridgewater, Mass. - January 26, 2014 - The Springfield College wrestling team finished second at the New England Wrestling Association Dual Meet Championship on Sunday at Bridgewater State. For his efforts all weekend, Dylan Foley (Southborough, Mass.) was named the All-Tournament Team.

The top-seeded Pride cruised past Coast Guard, 37-3 in the second round as it won as it won nine of 10 bouts against the Bears.

In the semifinals verus Rhode Island College, each team won five bouts as the Pride prevailed with a 16-15 decision as Hunter Ayen (Gouverneur, N.Y.) posted the key major decision victory at 197.

In the title match, Springfield won four of the first six bouts, only to have Roger Williams prevail in the final four matches, including a pair of pins, en route to the regional championship.

For Springfield, Foley, Tommy Caser (Bergenfield, N.J.) and Devin Biscaha (Jackson, N.J.) each won three times during the day to pace the Pride. Foley came through with the highlight victory of the day at 165 in the championship match, defeating the nation's second-ranked wrestler, Collin Crowell, 8-4.
