Women's Track and Field Tied For First After Opening Day of ECAC Championships

Medford, Mass. - March 6, 2009 - The Springfield College women's indoor track and field team sits tied for first place after the first day of the ECAC Indoor Track and Field Championships held at Tufts University.

The Pride recorded 23 points on the opening day and is tied for the lead with Moravian. There are 33 teams competiting for the ECAC crown this weekend.

Springfield's 4x200 relay of Katie Parente, Nicole Reynolds, Erika Marks and Nikki Hay was outstanding as it finished first with a time of 1:44.77.

Hay went on to also take first in the triple jump with a school-record distance of 39-03.25. Hay's distance currently is the farthest in the country this season in Division III.

SC's final three points of the first day came as Fatima Rose took sixth in the shot put with a toss of 40-02.75.
