Men's Cross Country Runs in New England Championships
Boston, Mass. - October 8, 2011
- The Springfield College men's cross country team competed in the New England Championships on Saturday afternoon at Franklin Park. As a team, the Pride placed 27th out of 41 teams competing as it totaled 687 points.
The University of Connecticut won the team title in a race that featured teams from all three NCAA Divisions.
Once again leading Springfield on the afternoon was Ryan O'Connell, who finished 57th in 26:01. Anthony Salvucci was the Pride's next top finisher in 26:14 which was good enough for 71st. Zach Pietras ran a 27:05 to place 142nd, while Ryan Allison crossed in 27:43 for 193rd. Rounding out the Pride's scorers on the afternoon was Matt Scully, who raced the course in 28:25.
The Pride will run again next weekend in the UAlbany Invitational.
Head Coach Bryan Brown
Bryan Brown will enter his third season as the head men's cross country coach in the fall of 2013. Brown, who was a former All-American at Springfield College in track, is the reigning NEWMAC Coach of the Year after leading Springfield to its second-straight second-place finish at the conference championships a year ago .
