In its opener, Springfield was led by its ace, Steve Forbes, who threw a complete game shutout. Forbes tossed seven innings of five-hit ball, striking out two and walking just one. The Pride benefited from a two-run single by sophomore Kyle DiFranco in the opening inning for the only runs it would need. Both teams finished with five hits in the contest.
In the second game, Mark Grant also went the distance, hurling seven innings while allowing just three hits and one unearned run. The senior also struck out two and walked a pair.
Mike Robilotto provided an offensive spark as he recorded a pair of triples in the contest, while DiFranco knocked in a pair of runs. The Pride trailed 1-0 after the first inning but plated two runs in the fifth before three runs in both the sixth and seventh to complete the 8-1 win.
