Slattery, a junior forward from Somers, Conn., finished with her second double-double in the last four games. She also had three assists, and one steal in 36 minutes of action, and went 8-of-13 from the floor. In addition, junior guard Kelly Murphy (Mechanicville, N.Y.) ended with 13 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Sophomore forward Emily Walker (East Lyme, Conn.) scored seven points, and added nine rebounds, two assists, and one steal.

Junior guard Christine Chancy (Bay Harbor Island, Fla.) had eight points and four rebounds. At 5-feet, 4-inches tall, sophomore guard Angelica Pascual (Lawrence, Mass.) finished with a team-high seven rebounds.

Murphy connected on a driving lay up with 6:05 left in the first half to give the hosts a nine-point cushion at 25-16. The visitors closed out the rest of the half on a 9-5 run, capped off by an inside bucket by Chase with four seconds remaining, to make it a 30-25 game after 20 minutes of play.

The Lyons then outscored Springfield, 8-3, to start the second half to tie the game at 33-all with 14:57 remaining. A Chancy lay-up tied it.

Springfield then scored the next eight points -- a key stretch that took 5:24 off the clock. Slattery scored a lay-up with 13:04 left that put SC into the lead for good. Slattery added two more free throws, followed by a Murphy conventional three-point play. A free throw by Colleen Dignum, a sophomore guard from Albany, N.Y., ended that run -- and SC led 41-33 with 9:32 left.

A jumper by Chase and a lay-up by Chancy cut that margin to four (41-37) with 7:10 left. But the Pride ended the game with an 11-3 span that clinched it. In the last 14:57, SC outscored Mount Holyoke, 19-7.

Springfield forced 20 Lyon turnovers, committing just 11 of its own. Mount Holyoke outrebounded the Pride, 33-32. The Lyons actually shot fairly well, making 19-of-45 (.422), while SC made just 20-of-56 (.357). SC finished with 15 assists on 20 made baskets.
