In her first game as the Springfield College head softball coach, Perrelli earned her first win by virtue of the one-run win over Endicott.
In the win over the Gulls, Chelsea Bender went 2-for-4 with two RBI in her collegiate debut, while All-American Michelle Wlosek registered a pair of hits. On the mound, Megan Fitzgerald earned the win as she scattered five hits and allowed one run while striking out four in six innings of work. Lynne Halley came in for her first collegiate game and closed out the game with a strong performance in the seventh inning.
Springfield totaled nine hits in the contest, but didn't help its cause with three errors.
With the bases loaded in the second inning, Bender singled to third base to drive in Bryn Worrilow, who led off the inning with a single to left field. The Gulls tied the game up in the top of the fifth with their only run of the contest as Jenna Lazar crossed the plate on a Merry MacDonald single.
Springfield took the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth when Bender came through at the plate once again, cracking a single to left to plate Melanie Scuderi from second base.
