Women's Cross Country Finishes Fifth at UMass-Dartmouth Invitational

Dartmouth, Mass. - September 20, 2008: The Springfield College women's cross country team finished fifth on Saturday afternoon in the Dartmouth Invitational as Amanda DiPaolo (Garrison, N.Y.) put forth another outstanding showing for the Pride.

Out of the 41 teams running in the event, Springfield recorded an overall finish of fifth place (153), behind the likes of MIT (67), Amherst (88), Brandeis (130), and Colby (132).

DiPaolo cross the finish line in second place in the race in a time of 18:22 and was one of three runners for the Pride to place in the top 25 of the race. Caitlin Crosby (Yarmouthport, Mass.) finished in 19th place in 18:55, while Lacey Cartier (York, Maine) crossed the finish line in 23rd in a time of 18:58.

Alex Mustardo (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) finished in 54th place in a time of 19:35, while teammate Michelle Mirti (Pompton Plains, N.J.) finished right behind her in 55th place with a time of 19:36. Kristen Meade (Raynham, Mass.) placed 82nd with a time 19:55 and teammate Amanda Mullen (Claremont, N.H.) crossed the line in 108th place in a time of 20:37.

The Pride return to action next Saturday when it runs at the Purple Valley Classic hosted at Williams College.
