Smolinski and Holt were joined by teammate Kelsey McGayhey (Shelter Island, N.Y.) as all-conference first team selections, while Whitney Miller (Cuba, N.Y.) took home second-team honors.
This is just the third time in program history that the Pride has had the NEWMAC Player, Rookie, and Coach of the Year. Springfield also swept the yearly awards in 2003 and 2008.
In just her third year at the helm for the Pride, Long has won her second NEWMAC Coach of the Year award leading the team to a 25-5 record, a NEWMAC Championship and an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Championship.
In her final season with the Pride, Smolinski becomes the seventh player in program history to receive NEWMAC Player of the Year recognition. The senior outside hitter has had another remarkable campaign, totaling a team-best 341 kills on a .310 clip. She leads the team with 304 digs and has added 27 aces and 27 blocks and reached a significant milestone this season, becoming just the fourth player in program history with 1,500 kills.
Just the fourth NEWMAC Rookie of the Year in program history, Holt burst onto the collegiate volleyball scene this year. This year, she has registered 294 kills at a sensational .371 clip, which is the second-highest percentage in the league. She has had just as big of an impact defensively, totaling 115 blocks and averaging a league-best 1.08 per set.
McGayhey had a breakout sophomore campaign for the Pride on the right side. This season, she has accounted for 243 kills while hitting .362, including 12 matches where she hit .500 or better, and ranks third on the team with 44 blocks. This is the first all-conference honor of McGayhey's collegiate career.
Also earning all-league praise for the first time in her career, Miller has directed one of the most efficient offenses in the country this year. Miller has totaled 914 assists, averaging 9.14 per set, to go along with 174 digs, 36 blocks, and 19 aces. Under her leadership, the Pride is hitting .295 on the season, which is the second-highest total in all of Division III women's volleyball.
