Fletcher Earns Academic All-District I Honors

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Nov. 15, 2004 -- Springfield College senior linebacker Justin Fletcher has been named to the 2004 Academic All-District I College Division Football team, announced today.

Fletcher, who hails from Orwell, Vt., was also a member of the Academic All-District I Team last season. A business major with a 3.48 cumulative grade-point average, Fletcher moves onto the national ballot for the Academic All-America College Division Football team, which will be announced on Dec. 1.

Fletcher, a team co-captain, was a catalyst behind the Pride’s 7-2 season. The two-time all-conference selection leads the team in both solo tackles (34) and total tackles (60). Fletcher also racked up 5.0 tackles-for-loss (17 yards), two fumble recoveries and an interception in nine starts.

SC, which entered last Saturday’s 49-13 win at Norwich ranked 20th in Division III in rushing defense (91.9 yards-per-game) and 24th in total defense (261.0 yards-per-game), plays host to Fitchburg State in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Northeast Bowl on Sat., Nov. 20.

SC junior Ashley Reves was named to the Academic All-District I College Division Women’s Volleyball Third Team.

Reves, a native of Orchard Park, N.Y., led the Pride to its second-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament. SC, which finished with a 26-8 record, captured its second-straight New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) crown this season.

Reves, a sport management major with a 3.445 cumulative grade-point average, hammered out a team-leading 408 kills to go along with 106 service aces. She earned NEWMAC All-Conference Second-Team honors this season, and is fourth all-time at SC with 1,179 kills. Reves was recognized as an honorable mention All-American and the conference player of the year in 2003, when she registered a school-record 592 kills.

The Academic All-America Team is selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
