No. 9 Men's Lacrosse Advances To Pilgrim League Championship Game
, April 28, 2004 - Springfield College sophomore attackman Taylor Brown (Portsmouth, R.I.)
totaled three goals and four assists, while senior attackman Paul Purdy (Brewster, N.Y.)
added three goals and three assists to lead the No. 9 Pride to a 32-5 win over Norwich University in the semifinals of the Pilgrim League Tournament this evening on Benedum Field.
Springfield (12-3) advances to play Western New England College on Saturday (May 1) at 1:00 p.m. on Benedum Field in the championship game of the Pilgrim League Tournament. WNEC earned a spot in the tournament final with a 9-8 win over Babson College in the evening's other semifinal. Springfield defeated the host Golden Bears, 20-12, on April 21 during the regular season. It is the third-consecutive season the Pride will face WNEC for the Pilgrim Championship.
Nine players tallied goals as SC opened a 9-0 lead with 4:59 remaining in the first quarter. The Pride then outscored the Cadets, 13-2, to take a 22-2 lead at halftime, en route to its 11th-straight victory.
