SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – December 17, 2006 – Head Football Coach Mike DeLong of Springfield College has earned more post-season coaching honors.

For the third and fourth time, he has been named a Coach of the Year by respected organizations for his work during the 2006 season.

DeLong has been named the 2006 American Football Coaches Association Region 1 Coach of the Year. He has also been named the 2006 d3football.com East Region Coach of the Year.

Earlier, DeLong had been named the Empire 8 Coach of the Year (unanimously). He also had been named the New England Division II/III Coach of the Year by the New England Football Writers Association for the second time. On December 14 at Casa di Fior in Wilmington, Massachusetts, DeLong was honored at the annual NEFWA Captains and Awards Banquet. Mike had also been named winner of that particular award in 2000.

Springfield College had a great season. The Pride finished 10-2 overall and 5-1 in the Empire 8 Conference, thus winning the Empire 8 co-title with St. John Fisher. SC went on to reach the second round of the NCAA Division III post-season tournament. SC defeated Curry (42-14) in the first round, but then lost in a rematch with St. John Fisher (27-21) in the Round of 16.
