Gridders Chris Sharpe, Adam Feit Named First Team All-New England

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – December 6, 2006 – Junior quarterback Chris Sharpe and senior offensive lineman Adam Feit of Springfield College have been selected to the 2006 New England Football Writers College Division All-New England Team. The team will be honored at the annual Captains and Awards Banquet Thursday, December 14 at the Casa di Fiore Restaurant in Wilmington, Massachusetts.

Sharpe, a junior quarterback from Derry, N.H., has been already well-decorated this post-season. The 5-9, 204-pounder still leads the nation in rushing (161.8 yards per game), rushing yards (1,941), scoring (17.7 points per game), and touchdowns (35). He set six NCAA Division III records and 12 Springfield College school records during the past season.

Sharpe was recently named winner of the New England Football Writers Association Division II/III Gold Helmet Award for the season. He also earned three Gold Helmet Awards during the past campaign, only the second known player to win three Gold Helmets in one season

Feit has also had a stellar season. The 6-2, 250-pound offensive guard from Chicopee, Massachusetts was part of an offensive line that opened massive holes, allowing Springfield to lead the nation in Division III in Rushing Offense with 377.4 yards per game. Eight times this season, Springfield rushed for 350 yards or better. Four times, it rushed for 400 yards or better.

Feit recently accepted an invitation to play in the Aztec Bowl in Aguscalientes, Mexico on December 16. The Aztec Bowl features the best of Division III players from the United States versus the best players from Mexico. He started all 12 games for the Pride this season. He was also one of five players selected to the d3football.com National Team of the Week following SC’s 41-34 victory over Alfred on September 23, during which the team rushed for 486 yards.
