Robinson Named FFC's Top Defensive Player

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Oct. 20, 2002 – Springfield College senior defensive end Dwayne Robinson was named Freedom Football Conference (FFC) Defensive Player of the Week (Oct. 20).

Robinson was also chosen as the ECAC Division III Northeast Region Defensive Player of the Week.

Robinson, a native of Albany, N.Y., helped the Pride record its second shutout of the season in the Pride’s 41-0 victory over Plymouth State (Oct. 19) with 3.5 sacks. He also had eight tackles and five tackles-for-loss (minus 18 yards).

Robinson is averaging 1.33 sacks per game, which is second in the FFC. He also has a team-high 32 tackles, 12 tackles-for-loss (minus 60 yards) and 7.0 sacks.

Robinson is the fifth SC player to win FFC weekly honors this season, but is the first defensive player to earn the award.

The first-place Pride (5-1, 4-0 FFC) travels to Worcester, Mass., to face WPI on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. SC can clinch a share of the FFC championship with a win over the Engineers.
