Football Hosts #13 St. John Fisher Saturday

The Series: First-ever meeting occured last season when the #24 Cardinals handed the #4 Pride its first loss of the season, 45-24 ... the loss gave Springfield a 5-1 record at the time.

SC’s Last Game: Springfield plodded to 18 first downs, gained 361 yds on the ground and held Plymouth St. to 55 yds. rushing as the Pride recorded its second win of the season, 33-13.

Empire 8 Standings: 1. Ithaca (5-1, 3-0), Alfred (5-1, 4-0), 3. St. John Fisher (6-1, 2-1), 4. Utica (4-2, 1-1), 5. Springfield (2-4, 0-2), Hartwick (3-3, 0-3), Norwich (2-5, 0-3)..

St. John Fisher Scouting Report: QB Nick Suchyna has incredible stats for the 13th ranked Cardinals ... how about a .718 pass completion percentage (130-181), a 175.4 passing efficiency, 1,598 yds with 18 TD passes and only three interceptions ... his favorite target is WR Noah Fehrenbach with 56 catches, 918 yds and 12 TDs ... if that’s not enough, SJF can count on the running of TB James Reile who has 761 yds and 12 TDs ... defensively, Gene Lang has 86 tackles, six sacks and 13 other tackles for losses..

SC’s Offense: A break-out week for Tim Broulliard (Plymouth, MA) ... the junior halfback had 17 carries for 128 yds (7.5 per carry) against Plymouth St. ... freshman fullback Andrew Jackson (Pennsville, NJ) scored three TDs to give him seven in the last two games ... guard Adam Feit (Chicopee, MA) had a strong game on the line.

SC’s Defense: Sr. DE Nick Burdett (Needham, MA) and junior LB Andrew Madigan (New Britain, CT) led a defense that held Plymoputh to seven first downs and 55 yds on the ground.

SC’s Special Teams: Sophomore Mike Mahoney (Mashpee, MA) averaged 36 yds per punt in less than desirable weather conditions against Plymouth.

Injury Report: Sr. FB Andre Clayton (Manchester, CT) and QB/SE Damian Gunningsmith are expected to see action after missing three games with an injured ankle and hip, respectively.
