Men's Golf Finishes Third of Eight Teams at Elms College Invitational

CHICOPEE, Mass., October 4, 2006 - Springfield College sophomore Greg Levings (Averill Park, N.Y.) fired a four-over par 75 to lead the Pride to a third-place finish out of eight competing teams at this afternoon's Blazers Invitational, hosted by Elms College at the Chicopee Country Club.

Nichols College took home the team title with a total of 300 strokes (+16), as Worcester State College finished second with a total of 310 (+26), and SC rounded out the top three with 313 total team strokes (+29). UMass Dartmouth and host Elms College tied for fourth fourth place overall at 322 (+38).

All five Pride golfers finished in the top 20 at the Blazers Invitational, as senior Andrew Wright (Hampden, Mass.) tied for seventh overall out of 40 golfers with a six-over par 77, Joe Powers finished 15th overall with an 80, and senior Bryan Chiravolo (Trumbull, Conn.) and sophomore Michael LaJoie (Enfield, Conn.) finished tied for 16th with identical scores of 81.

SC will look to continue its solid start to the 2006 campaign as it next travels to play in the ECAC Division III Championships this weekend, October 7th and 8th, in Worcester, Mass.

Head Coach Joe Eadie

Joe Eadie Joe Eadie enters his 20th season as the head men's golf coach at Springfield College in the fall of 2012. Eadie is the head golf professional at the Fenway Golf Range in nearby East Longmeadow, and is in the process of becoming a PGA Professional.
