No. 18 Men's Lacrosse Takes Care Of Babson, 10-4
, April 16, 2005 – Springfield College junior attackman Taylor Brown (Portsmouth, R.I.)
scored four goals, while graduate student Craig Gibson (South Salemm, N.Y.)
tallied two goals and two assists to lead the No. 18 Pride to its sixth-straight victory, 10-4, over Babson College in Pilgrim League men’s lacrosse action this afternoon on Benedum Field.
Tied 2-2 with 5:27 to play in the first quarter, SC (6-4, 4-0 Pilgrim) went on a three-goal run, including goals by senior midfielders Mark Maitland (Salem, Mass.)
and Derek Pedrick (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) only 12 seconds apart, to lead 5-2 after 15 minutes of play.
Goals by Gibson at the 10:31 mark, and Babson senior attackman Steve Whitney at 2:05, accounted for the only second-quarter scoring as SC led, 6-3, at halftime.
A goal by Brown at the 4:38 mark was the only point of the third quarter as SC clung to a 7-3 lead after 45 minutes of play.
SC would put the game away in the final period with three unanswered goals, including two-straight by Brown, to lead 10-3 with 4:40 to play in the game. Babson junior midfielder Nate Brawn added his second goal of the day with 2:03 on the clock, but it was SC winning its fourth-straight league game of the season.
Springfield sophomore goalkeeper Kyle Cloutier (Agawam, Mass.)
made 14 stops for the Pride, while Babson senior Dave Frascogna was credited with 12 saves for the Beavers (5-6, 2-2 Pilgrim).
Brown’s four goals moved him into a tie for ninth place all-time at Springfield with 188 points.
SC returns to action on Wednesday (April 20), hosting Norwich in a 7:00 p.m. Pilgrim League contest.
