The Department of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science is comprised of highly energetic members who are committed to helping students achieve to the highest of their potential and to prepare them for a world that has become increasingly dependent upon the use of mathematical and computational skills. Our class sizes are small; so students receive individual attention and get to know each of their professors personally. As a recent graduate of our mathematics program, with a minor in computer programming put it:
"The standout qualities of the mathematics and computer programming programs are the professors and the class sizes. Every professor I encountered in my mathematics major was more than willing to go above and beyond for a student, whether it be preparing for the teacher’s test, extra help, extra work, math lab, or more challenging courses. The professors are determined to see you succeed in no matter what the path you choose. They put just as much work into it as you do. I was lucky enough to be able to take courses that were not in the regular course load in order to prepare myself for graduate school. The professors are so dedicated to all of their students, inside and outside of the classroom. The smaller class sizes ensure that each person has a chance to ask questions and have them answered. At times these questions clarify and at times it leads to a whole new idea or concept. The setup and various topics discussed in these courses is interesting, informative, and … fun."
