Interpretive Naturalist John Green Will Deliver McCabe Lecture at Springfield College

March 22, 2011

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., March 22, 2011 -- John Green, acclaimed nature photographer, will present “Nature’s Odyssey,” a narrated slide show, at Springfield College’s annual Briton C. and Lucille McCabe Lecture, on Thursday, March 24, at 4 p.m., in Appleton Auditorium of the Fuller Arts Center, on the campus.

Green, whose print work and slide shows have been exhibited widely around the Pioneer Valley, has also been featured on the television series "PBS Kids." Skilled in natural light photography, he has been photographing nature for more than 30 years, often in the wilds of Quabbin Reservoir, and has developed a large portfolio.

Green is an interpretive naturalist, who is expert in birding by ear and skilled in bird and plant identification. He also has significant knowledge of mammals, insects, reptiles and amphibians.

The lecture, which is open to the public free of charge, is Springfield College’s premiere annual scholarly event in the biological and physical sciences. Annually, it brings leaders in these fields to the campus to discuss timely topics and discoveries for the benefit of students, professionals in these fields, and the community.
