SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Jan. 27, 2012 -- The Springfield College School of Social Work (SSW) will hold an open house for prospective graduate students on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, from 4 to 6 p.m., at its facilities at the Brennan Center, 45 Island Pond Road, Springfield.
Springfield College SSW offers a master of social work weekend program that students can complete in three years, and also a two-year full-time program with classes two days per week. The combined master of social work/juris doctorate is a four-year program in conjunction with Western New England University School of Law. The SSW also offers an advanced standing master of social work program for qualified graduates of bachelor of social work programs that are accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
At the informal information session, prospective graduate students may meet faculty members and current students, learn about admissions and financial aid, and tour the school’s facilities. Refreshments will be served. Advance registration is available on-line at www.springfieldcollege.edu/ssw or by calling the admissions coordinator at (413) 748-3060.
Since September 2011, the SSW has also offered courses at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Mass., on weekends, for the convenience of students from central Massachusetts. The school has had an increasing number of applicants from the greater Worcester area in recent years, where the demand for certified social workers has continuously risen.
