Who's Who in the Library

Andrea Taupier, Library Director, extension 3609. Andrea is responsible for the successful function of Babson Library particularly in budgeting and long range planning. Andrea supports and guides library staff and represents the library to other departments of the college. Andrea welcomes feedback from students and faculty.

Cathy Ping Xu, Acquisitions Specialist, extension 3670. Cathy works in the Technical Services Department and is primarily responsible for the purchase of library information materials, placing orders with vendors, and other duties pertaining to the acquisition of library materials.

David McMahon, Patron Services Specialist, extension 3703. David's specialty is student staffing. He oversees hiring, scheduling and training of student workers. He can usually be found at or near the Information Desk.

Diane LaBarre-Desch, Monographs Assistant, extension 3562. Diane is responsible for cataloging and processing various library materials. She is also responsible for binding periodicals and receiving gifts/donations.

Diane M. Walsh, Patron Services Specialist, extension 3376. Diane serves as the administrator for the Voyager online circulation module and is the contact person for information related to billing for overdue library materials. Diane is responsible for developing the library’s yearly hours of operation for the Director and publicizing library displays, events, etc. using various sources, including the Babson Library blog.

Gary Atwood, Reference Librarian, extension 3504. Gary is liaison to the School of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation, the Management and Economics department, and Graduate Studies. Call Gary for help in accessing and using the library's print and electronic resources. Gary is also available for information instructions sessions and research assistance.

Jeffrey Monseau, College Archivist, extension 3309. Jeff is responsible for collecting, preserving, and providing access to the official records of the College and other primary source materials that support the research interests and Humanics philosophy of the College. Call Jeff with questions about the history of the College or physical education; contact him to schedule an appointment to conduct research; call if you are interested in donating personal papers that document student life at the College or other aspects of the College’s history; call if you are an administrator seeking to transfer College records of permanent value to the Archives.

Lisa Sotak, Patron Services Specialist, extension 3702. Lisa's primary responsibilities are to provide student supervision and virtual, as well as in-person research assistance during her late afternoon to closing working hours. Her duties also cover a variety of areas within the library relating to equipment, missing books, handouts, and stack maintenance.

Lynn Martin, Technical Services Specialist, extension 3559. Lynn is the interlibrary loan guru for all library patrons, processing their requests for books and journal articles. She also lends our materials to other libraries nationwide.

Marylouise Rollend, Administrative Assistant, extension 3308. Marylouise supports the Library Director in her many endeavors. She is always ready and willing to help campus personnel and students whenever she can; please call her with general questions about the Library and its activities.

Michael L. Stevens, Technical Services Librarian, extension 3360. Mike is the person to contact with questions about information access and how it is provided. Acquisitions, cataloging, interlibrary loan and our integrated library system are in his bailiwick.

Patrick Hartsfield, Digital Technologies Librarian, extension 3784. Patrick is responsible for supporting the technology infrastructure and systems of the library. Patrick also serves as a liaison with Information and Technology Services to integrate library systems and services within the Springfield College network and information systems.

Rachael Naismith, Assistant Director for Information and Research, extension 3505. Rachael is the Assistant Director and the head of the Public Sevices Department, which operates from the Library's Information Desk. Call Rachael for library research or database assistance or any research questions; call with any feedback about public services at the Library; and call with recommendations for books, journals, databases, videos, or other library materials. In addition to managing the Public Services Department, Rachael is the liaison librarian for the Humanities and Psychology departments.

Sheri Sochrin, Reference and Distance Learning Librarian, extension 3377. Sheri is a Reference Librarian and faculty liaison. In her role as liaison to the School of Human Services, she is responsible for coordinating library services for students at our regional campuses.

Susan Bigelow, Reference Librarian, extension 3848. Susan is the liaison for Heath Sciences and Rehabilitation Studies, Biology/Chemistry and Math/Physics/Computer Science. Susan is the Information Literacy Coordinator and is available for research assistance and to teach information literacy sessions.
