Assistant Director of Field Education for Central MA
The Springfield College School of Social Work invites application for the position of Assistant Director of Field Education. This administrative staff position is responsible for assisting with the administrative functioning of field education. Responsibilities include: developing new and maintaining current field practicum agency sites for designated areas in New England, primarily Worcester, Central Massachusetts, and Northern Connecticut and Rhode Island; identifying qualified, committed field supervisors to supervise graduate social work interns in an advanced generalist program; placing graduate students in agencies; working together with faculty members, field supervisors and students to resolve problems; and serving as faculty advisor to a cohort of students. The Assistant Director of Field Education works to support the administration of the field education program and assists with the preparation of reports and manuals. This is a full-time 4/5ths time, twelve month administrative/professional position with an office located at the School of Social Work in Springfield, MA. The position requires some weekend hours.
Qualifications include: MSW with five years of post-MSW practice experience and a professional license; previous experience with field practicum student supervision in a graduate social work program; ability to work with multicultural student populations, young students, and adult learners; established record of social work agency contacts; demonstrated organization and administration abilities; understanding of field education opportunities and challenges within the context of graduate level advanced generalist social work education. Knowledge of social work agencies in Central Massachusetts is required. The Springfield College School of Social Work is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and offers four graduate program options: a full-time, two-year weekday MSW Program in Springfield, part-time, three-year weekend MSW Programs in Springfield and Worcester, weekday and weekend Advanced Standing Programs for highly qualified BS W graduates, and an MSW/JD Combined Degree Program with Western New England University School of Law.
